About Us
Since 1983, the Superstition Community Food Bank has served thousands of people in East Valley communities.
We are a community food bank that offers assistance to individuals and families in need in Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Northwest Pinal County, and East Mesa.
Driven by a small, but passionate staff, supported by an engaged, committed Board and a team of enthusiastic, energetic volunteers, everyone involved with Superstition Community Food Bank works together to feed the hungry in our community.
Our Mission
Together with our volunteers and partners, Superstition Community Food Bank provides food services to qualified individuals and families in East Valley communities with kindness, respect, and dignity.
Why a Community Food Bank is Needed
In our service area, one in five adults, one in four children, and one in seven seniors are food insecure. Working with our partners and volunteers, we look for ways to develop food security and minister to other needs of our neighbors. Many of our clients are among Arizona’s “working poor,” that is, those who have jobs but still cannot make ends meet.
Our primary commitment is to find, rescue, and distribute food to hungry people through an efficient food distribution model. Using voluntary contributions of food, money, and services from the community, we strive to live up to our mission.
Non-profit 501(c)3 Organization
This means your donations to our food bank are tax deductible (consult an accountant for more information). As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, thanks to the assistance of more than 150 volunteers and all your donations, our administrative costs sit below 8% of our annual budget. This means 92 cents out of every dollar donated makes its way into the grocery carts given to our eligible families in need.
